چکیده

The placement of sensors to support security monitoring is obviously critical as it will directly impact the efficacy of allocated resources and system performance. It is critical to be able to observe and monitor the greatest total area possible. In addition, it is necessary to be able to spatially track the movement of people and activities in support of security. It is shown that important aspects of the security sensor placement problem can be modeled using the maximal covering location problem (MCLP) and/or the backup coverage location problem (BCLP) combined with visibility analysis. Thus, an approach is detailed for supporting security monitoring. The approach is applied in the context of video sensor placement in an urban area, illustrating the various tradeoffs that can be identified using optimization-based techniques. 2006 Elsevier Ltd. MULTIOBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION OF SENSOR PLACEMENT IN WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS DUAL USE BENEFIT APPROACH

Location and types of sensors may be integrated for simultaneous achievement of water security goals and other water utility objectives, such as regulatory monitoring requirements. Complying with the recent recommendations on dual benefits of sensors, this study addresses the optimal location of these types of sensors in a multipurpose approach. The study presents two mathematical models for ...

Fuzzy Optimization for Security Sensors Deployment in Collaborative Intrusion Detection System

This paper argues about the deployment positions of Network-based Intrusion Detection System and suggests the “Distributed Network Security Sensors” distributed among the nodes of the internal network to monitor traffic. We study the tradeoff between cost and monitoring coverage to determine the positions and processing rates of the sensors. To handle the uncertain nature of flow, we build fuzz...

OPTIMIZATION-BASED MONITORING-SUPPORTED CALIBRATION OF A THERMAL PERFORMANCE SIMULATION MODEL

Building performance simulation is being increasingly deployed beyond the building design phase to support efficient building operation. Specifically, the predictive feature of the simulation-assisted building systems control strategy provides distinct advantages in view of building systems with high latency and inertia. Such advantages can be exploited only if model predictions can be relied u...

A Look at the Developments of Aging in Iran and the Coverage of Social Support for the Elderly (Provincial Adaptation)

In recent years, increasing life expectancy and decreasing fertility rates in the wake of medical advances has led to the emergence of an aging phenomenon in the country, which is rising steeply. Now, the question is: what is the current state, how old are provinces in the country, and what proportion of the elderly are covered by social insurance and public support institutions? In this articl...
